David Churches, Director of Major Event Planning, has been involved in the Major Event industry since 1988.
After his extensive role in the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games (1988-2000) he has provided technical and/or strategic assistance to many major events including the Athens 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Doha 2006 Asian Games, the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sydney 2008 World Youth Day, and the Paris 2012 Olympic and Paralympic bid.
He has been an observer at all summer Olympic Games since Barcelona 1988, and at many other events including the Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games and World Youth Day.
He has been a speaker at a broad range of international event industry conferences, and has conducted technical workshops on many subjects including the role of an organising committee, the role of government, venue and site planning, overlay planning, environment, city festivities, and event legacies.
